From I-8: Westbound -- Exit 1, Giss Parkway. Turn left on to Giss Parkway and follow back under I-8, after 2 stop signs turn right at stoplight on 4th Avenue. The Coronado Motor Hotel is on the right (east) side of 4th Avenue.

From I-8: Eastbound -- Exit 4th Avenue, I-8 Business Loop, 1/2 mile south on 4th Avenue, on left (east) side.

Very Hot in Summer!

PROCEDURE: In the Lobby look for the Walk Registration box and follow the directions.

START/FINISH TIMES: You may participate in this event any day of the year between sunup and sundown. During the hot summer months - when it is over 100 degrees! - it is advisable to do this event in the early morning, and to carry 1 to 2 quarts of water, wear sunglasses and a hat, and use sunscreen.

DISTANCE: 10 km.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: The walk route follows Yuma city sidewalks, paved bike paths, and gravel paths, through city parks, along the Colorado River, past many historic sites including the Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park, Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park, and Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area, and through the Yuma downtown area which offers numerous and interesting shopping experiences. The walk is rated 1 (1 is easiest and 5 is the most difficult); it is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs

AWARD: There is no special award for this event. An interesting assortment of medals and patches from previous events, "B" awards, depicting desert flora and fauna and historic sites is available.

REGISTRATION FEES: Main Street in Yuma

"B" award and IVV credit is $4.00.

IVV Credit only is $3.00.

You may walk for free if credit or award is not desired, but you must register and complete a start card.

You may do this event one additional time the same day at no additional charge.
